Created in 2019 by Ashlee Risko Leeper, this revolutionary, patent-pending hair extension technique is known for its quality, comfort, and speed. It’s the future of hand-tied education: safe, sustainable, and scientifically grounded.

With up to eight wefts per row, four to seven points of contact, and zero end beads, Luna prioritizes both client safety and stylist longevity. No glue. No tape. No sticky mess. Just clean compression and biomechanical integrity.

Why the Luna Method?

    Proper force distribution prevents follicle trauma. Your client’s head shape supports the weight-not the beads.

  • The Luna method uses a consistent distribution of weight along the natural hair to ensure that no one strand carries more load than it should.

    This principle works similarly to how a bridge is built. Weight is evenly spread across the structure to avoid excessive pressure in any one area. Utilizing the bones of the head to support the weight of the row and not utilizing bead work as anchors establishes consistent weight distribution.

  • The Luna Method is adaptable for different hair types, from fine to coarse hair. The science behind this lies in understanding that different hair textures require different amounts of tension and compression to ensure secure and natural results.

  • The Luna Method avoids the use of harsh adhesives and a plethora of beads. This helps relieve added bulk, hair damage, and/or irritation to the scalp.

    Instead, it focuses on creating a gentle, long-lasting hold through carefully controlled tension and placement. When properly installed, we love to say, “our beadwork is zero tension” —meaning zero manual tension.

  • Thanks to the physics of tension and compression working in harmony, the Luna Method allows extensions to remain secure for longer periods of time with minimal maintenance. This reduces the need for frequent reapplication, allowing the natural hair to grow without stress.

  • The precision of the method when customized and applied properly, ensures that no part of the hair extension is excessively pulling on the scalp, leading to discomfort or damage.   • 4 weeks online pre-training. Before class, you’ll practice the core skills for the method and send them in for review. That way, you’ll walk into class confident and ready to dive right in.

    In-person immersive workshop. You’ll work side by side with Barbi in an immersive training that builds the skills, confidence, and clarity you need to fully master The Luna Method.

    6 months personalized feedback and coaching. Here’s where skills turn into mastery. Submit your work for review, embrace feedback, and stay consistent. Steady growth always comes before excellence.

  • We want you to have as much practice as possible before class. That way you have a solid foundation before attending. We want you to get the most out of your investment!

    This allows “basic” motions to be mastered to ensure less fumbling and more refinement in-person. With pre-training, you are able to ask introductory questions about the method prior to meeting and utilize in-person time for more advanced queries!

  • No, the Luna Method does not believe in handing out certifications. Frankly, due to handing them out for participation and completion, they tend to be meaningless. We believe certifications should define mastery.

    At The Luna Method, you can elect to EARN a certification. To earn your certification, you must submit human installs until you pass TWO installs and TWO corresponding grow-outs with 80% or higher with in your purchased time.

  • Timing is subject to change based on your experience level, attention to detail, and the type of appointment that you offer. On average, our experienced artists take 35 minutes to an hour to install a row.

  • At Luna & Mauve, we are dedicated to promoting eco-friendliness. We recognize that as artists, many of you likely possess the majority of the required tools for extensions. To minimize waste and lessen our environmental footprint, we've chosen to supply you with links to Ashlee's top-recommended tools instead. This allows you to acquire only what you're missing, supporting our shared goal of making a positive impact on the environment, no matter how small. Please note Ashlee uses particular tools so that her results are consistent. Using different tools could lend different results. If you believe you have something similar, please show us.

  • The Luna Method is for all hair types. The flat corners make it really great for thin or fine-haired clients. Sparse clients would be your highest risk but customizations can still be made for any texture type.

  • I know that’s how it can seem, but no, we do not stitch to the hair! The placement of our beads keeps the hair in natural fall with ZERO manual tension while also preventing any of the hair from being pulled tight, minimizing pain and/or damage.
